| Batavia Knights Honor Medal of Honor Recipient in Rededication Ceremony Following a Dedication Mass at Resurrection Church in Batavia, members of the Batavia Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus met at Bohn’s Restaurant for ceremonies renaming the Assembly in honor of the Rev. Vincent Capodanno, a Maryknoll Priest who was killed in Vietnam while serving as a Navy Chaplain wit the U.S. Marines. Shown in photo on the left following the Mass are (l to r) Former Master William R. Davis, III of Batavia, Mrs. Lydia Capodanno and Mr. James Capodanno of Staten Island, Rev. Leo McCarthy of Batavia, Master of the Fourth New York District (which includes the Dioceses of Buffalo and Rochester) Alan Frisa of Gates, and Former Master Michael Flanagan of Spencerport. Father Capodanno’s Medal of Honor can be seen on the easel displayed to the left of the group. | Fourth Degree Color Corps Participates in Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics Winter Games FM Michael Flanagan, Master Alan Frisa, State Secretary Thomas Boslet and FM Richard Hilliard were among the Fourth Degree members from the Rochester and Buffalo areas who participated in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2009 Winter Games conducted by the New York State Special Olympics at the ESL Arena on the campus of Monroe Community College. 02/08 |
| Steger Assembly Hosts Red, White and Blue Mass Several hundred people gathered at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Gates to attend the Red, White and Blue Mass hosted by the John W. Steger Assembly. A detachment from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Rochester Chapter provided Color Guard service while the Gate Police Department's Pipe and Drum Corps provided by music. The Mass honored all Police, Firemen, Emergency Service Personnel, Military Personnel and Veterans. Among the dignitaries present in front row (l - r) were FM William R. Davis, III, Rochester DCCC Roland Bergeron, Deacon Shanley, Master Alan Frisa, Rev. Michael Schrammel, Celebrant, Secretary to the State Deputy Arthur Harris, FM Michael Flanagan, and Buffalo DCCC J. Scott Powell . Following the Mass, a pancake breakfast was served in the Parish Center 02/08 |
